Per Martin Pålsson

Peter Martin Pålsson
1884-1961
Påls Martin with an emphasis on the 'i' was called Plåder.
He was born in Borstahusen on June 12, 1884 and died on March 19, 1961. His father Pål Svensson was a fisherman, his mothers name was Ingrid Söderberg. He was the youngest of five siblings.
Påls Martin was a fisherman and had his own fishing boat. He lived with his parents on Mellangatan in Borstahusen. He remained unmarried throughout his life. Why he was called Plåder is unclear. In dialect, the word plåddra is used, for example, to describe an engine that is running less than smothly. Perhaps his fishing boat had a very unique sound.
Plåder was a large man, a head taller than the other fishermen and he had an eagle's profile. His voice was powerful. It could almost drown out the storm. He was clean and a great animal lover. There are many stories about Plåder.
Bird lover
During the 1940s, the Öresund strait froze for a couple of winters. He saved many swans from freezing to death. He also became their friend and they followed him faithfully wherever he went. They recognized him when he came, stretched their necks and flapped their wings.
When they were fully recovered, he took them to the harbor, out onto the ice, and said goodbye to them. It is said that at one time when had flown away he saw them flying south from afar. He then calls out: Hello friends, where are you heading?, and his mighty voice must have carried far out across the strait because the swans took a turn over Ven and then came flying straight towards him and landed on the ice right in front of him.
Cat lover
Plåder liked cats very much. But he didn't want more than twelve. Many in Borstahusen were annoyed by the cats and complained to the health board.
Plader got a reprimand and got even angrier. In revenge, he named the cats after women in the neighborhood..
Carl Fredrik Stenkula has written a poem about cats: Katzenjammer
alltid välstämd, skir och fin
avbröts av hesa skrin
från katt hos själve Påls Martín ('untranslatable' rhyme)
After the death of parents
When his parents passed away, there was more space in the cottage. And Plåder was going to rent it to people from Stockholme in the summer, but the tenants had demands that Plåder thought were strange. It's weird, these people from Stockholm they want to eat outdoors and have a toilet indoors.
Plåder was very clean. Nevertheless, the health board tried to condemn the house. There was nothing to complain about, but then they came to the old dry toilet. When the complaint came, Plåder opposed it and told the health officer: This one has been used by my father and grandfather and if you want to use you are welcome.
When Plåder passed away in 1961, Borstahusen became an original poorer.

The gravesite is at Landskrona nya kyrkogård in block 36.
