Frank Heller

Frank Heller
1886-1947
Frank Heller was the pseudonym chosen by the young doctor of literature Gunnar Serner, when he abruptly fled Lund, wanted for forgery of bills of exchange. After several unsuccessful attempts to make money at the casino in Monte Carlo, he began writing to support himself. Wikipedia has an the excellent article on Heller.
The priest's son Gunnar Serner grew up in Bosarp in central Skåne, studied philology in Lund and defended his thesis in 1910 on Swinburne's language.
He wrote several books, including: ”Herr Collins affärer i London” 1914, ”Du dåre, i denna natt” 1922, ”Atlantis undergång” 1941 samt ”Kejsarens gamla kläder”.
The pseudonym Frank Heller derives from the name of the main character in Lund author Artur Möller's (born 1833) novel Studentsynder. A coincidence that looks like a thought.
In 1940, the autobiographical book På detta tidens smala näs was published. The title is a quote from Shakespeare's MacBeth I:VII .But here, upon this bank and shoal of time... (shoal =grund in Swedish), especially at low tide, a visible revel, but also figuratively speaking hidden dangers/obstacles).
In 2004, a Frank Heller Society was started
The Society has a homepage↗ which is rich with information about Frank Heller, and they publish interesting yearbooks, arrange trips in Heller's footsteps and much more. It has around 200 members.
Please read the beautiful poem on Frank Heller's gravestone.

Algernon Charles Swinburne (1837-1909)
The Garden of Proserpine↗
From too much love of living,
From hope and fear set free,
We thank with brief thanksgiving
Whatever gods may be
that no life lives for ever;
That dead men rise up never;
That even the weariest river
Winds somewhere safe to sea.
The bottom two lines are reproduced on the tombstone.
On a cemetery walk, it's not far to the gravesite of GAN (IDstory), a very well-known painter.
