Drottningtorget
You are seeing a Saturday picture in the month of May. It is the day of the week when Bondens egen marknad↗ (Farmers market) offers goods from local producers of vegetables, bread, cheese and flowers. Opening hours: selected Saturdays 9 - 14. For times and more information, see Bondens marknad - Malmö↗
Local and global

The market trade has been very lively for periods and this can be traced in the stonework. At regular intervals, larger stones with numbers are found. One of the stones has the numbers 178-181.
The small square is a reminder of the big world and part of a conceptual idea presented further down.
Drottningtorget was built in 1806 when Gustav IV Adolf was king. He also laid out the square called Gustav Adolfs Torg (IDstory). His wife's name was Fredrika, but it was probably not appropriate at the time to call Drottningtorget Fredrikatorget. An interesting topic of conversation with a feminist. In the past, the "church-goers" had a short walk to Caroli kyrka (IDstory).
The House of Humanity

TheSwedish Red Cross↗ inaugurated in May 2005 the House of Humanity in the yellow building - a former riding stable for the hussar regiment, market hall and carriage museum.
The operation with a permanent and temporary exhibitions and meetings/café continued until November 2010. It had to be closed due to a large embezzlement by a very dishonest person in the Red Cross management.
The House of Humanity focused on humanitarian issues with exhibitions, a café and a library. Among other things, you could go inside one of the white buses that brought concentration camp prisoners to Sweden after World War II..

Concept proposal M:
In the House of Humanity there was a world map that showed some of the world's hotbeds of unrest and places where the Red Cross was active. If you saw the square as if it were a map of the world, you could place numbered stones that connected the stories in the House of Humanity with the square's stone map of the world.
A bridge from the physical world to your digital world
In the near future [it now is], it would also be possible to give each redstone a unique data chip, which would allow you to read more about one of the Red Cross projects in the world via your mobile phone directly via NFC. Geography in the world and on the square, technology and more information in a joint project. It would have become known worldwide.
Each stone is the size of a regular street/square stone and is easy to make and place.. I presented my proposal in 2005, but it didn't generate enough interest. At that time, there were very few mobile phones with NFC (Near Field Communication) - a kind of proximity communication technology for quick connection. Today many hundreds of millions of mobile phones with NFC capability are sold annually. Project M could have become an attraction and a precursor. It was based on a patent Johan Schlasberg received in 2000.
