Fountain by Thure Thörn

The square fountain replaced a long-lost well in 1973. It is a gift from the Malmö Beautification and Planting Associationꜜ and Malmö Sparbank Bikupan.

Please take a look at the reliefs that remind us of the trade of old days on Lilla Torg (IDstory). The square was established in the 1590s as a complement to Stortorget (IDstory).

There is a geocache hidden in the well's vicinity.

About Thure Thörn

Born in Malmö 1918. Died 2005. Sculptor, educated at the Skåne Painting School and Konstfack in Stockholm.

He was a very widely engaged sculptor in public contexts. In Malmö alone he has created nearly twenty sculptures, fountains and reliefs. In addition to this there are public works in, among other cities, Lund, Landskrona, Trelleborg, Ystad, Ängelholm, Skövde, Uddevalla, Västervik and Mariestad.

He is represented at Malmö Museum and made contributions as a board member of the National Association of Artists (KRO) and the Skåne Artists' Club.
